THE FIRM — WHY US

We’re not for everyone.

Cayres Labs is a small studio, on purpose. We build AI automation systems for businesses that already make money — and want to stop leaving so much of it on the table. Below: everything we believe, what we guarantee in writing, and when we’re a bad fit.

FOUNDED SAN DIEGO · EST. 2024 · CONCURRENT ENGAGEMENTS: NEVER MORE THAN 3

AI is a tool, not a strategy. The strategy is knowing where your business leaks, then closing the leaks one at a time — with the least clever thing that works.

THE FIRM — FOUR PRINCIPLES

What we hold to. Always — even when it costs us.

PRINCIPLE 01 — ONE FIRM

One contract. One contact. One result we own.

Most agencies build websites. A different agency runs your CRM. A third runs your ads. Three different bills, three different opinions, three different excuses when something breaks.

In practice

We do the whole stack — the site, the AI layer, the automations, the routing, the data plumbing. When something breaks, there is exactly one number to call, and it’s ours.

PRINCIPLE 02 — CONVERSION FIRST

Built around how your customers actually buy.

Not built around a Figma template or last quarter’s design trend. We start with your actual funnel — the calls, the forms, the texts, the moments where a stranger decides whether you’re the business they’re going with.

In practice

Every system we ship is reverse-engineered from a customer touchpoint. If we can’t draw a line from a feature to a moment your prospect cares about, we don’t build it.

PRINCIPLE 03 — OWNERSHIP

You own every file.

The website lives on your domain, hosted on your account. The CRM is logged into your email. The AI API keys are in your name, on your card. The customer data is yours, exportable any time.

In practice

If you fire us tomorrow, you walk away with everything — the codebase, the configurations, the documentation, the lot. No hostage retainers. No data lock-in.

PRINCIPLE 04 — THE NUMBER

We measure booked jobs. Nothing else.

Not impressions. Not engagement. Not Instagram followers. Not website visits. The only metric on the dashboard we send you each month is the count of leads captured and jobs booked, broken down by source.

In practice

If those numbers don’t move, neither do we — we’ll either rework the build or refund the retainer. Pick one. The clause is signed below.

THE FIRM — THE GUARANTEE, SIGNED

The guarantee — a signed letter.

To whom it concerns —

Every month, we send you one dashboard with one number on it: leads captured and jobs booked, broken down by source. If that number does not move, we will either rework the build at our expense or refund the retainer.

Pick one. That clause is in every contract we sign, because I started this firm after watching too many owners — plumbers, dentists, lawyers — pay tens of thousands for websites that didn’t move a single number.

The hardest part of automation isn’t building it. It’s knowing what to build. That’s why the first 90 minutes are free, and why the only acceptable outcomes of that call are a free audit, a proposal, or “this isn’t a fit” — whichever is honest.

THE FIRM — ENGAGEMENT LIMITATIONS

The most useful thing a studio can say no to.

Engagement limitations

  • You want the cheapest agency. We aren’t.
  • You want a 14-day SEO miracle. Different shop.
  • You expect 24/7 chat support on a project fee. Retainer only.
  • You’re not bought-in on AI being part of the stack. We’ll respect the decision and decline the work.
  • You want us to manage your ad spend. We don’t run ads — we build the systems that catch what your ads bring in.
  • Your business is brand-new with no customers yet. Come back when you have data we can actually optimize against.

WE’VE TURNED DOWN GOOD MONEY OVER EVERY LINE ON IT.

THE FIRM — NOTES TO THE FINDINGS

Notes to the findings.

The questions owners actually ask, answered on the record.

NOTE 01 — ON PRICE

Q. What does this cost?

A fixed number, quoted after the audit — because a four-chair dental practice and a two-truck plumbing company do not leak the same way, and pricing them the same would be dishonest. The proposal lists every line item, every deliverable, a start date, an end date, and one dollar figure. No hourly billing. No surprise invoices. Typical engagements run [$X,XXX–$XX,XXX].

NOTE 02 — ON THE ROBOT

Q. Will the AI sound like a robot to my customers?

No — and if it ever does, that’s a defect we fix. Every system is trained on your voice, your services, your way of talking to customers. Its job is the first sixty seconds: answer, ask the two questions you’d ask, book the slot. Your people handle everything that deserves a human. Customers notice exactly one thing: somebody got back to them fast.

NOTE 03 — ON YOUR STAFF

Q. Will this replace my front desk / office manager?

No. It catches what they physically can’t: the 9:47 PM call, the form that arrives mid-rush, the fifth follow-up nobody has time for. Your staff stops apologizing for missed messages and starts working warm, qualified leads. Every client we’ve built for kept their people.

NOTE 04 — ON MAINTENANCE

Q. We’re not technical. Who keeps this running?

We do, or you do — your call. Every system ships with a one-page operator’s manual, a recorded walkthrough, and a 30-day monitoring window included. After that: an optional retainer, or fly solo. The tools are ones a non-technical owner can read like a thermostat.

NOTE 05 — ON LOCK-IN

Q. Am I locked in?

The opposite, in writing. The website lives on your domain. The accounts are in your name, on your card. The data is exportable any time. If you fire us tomorrow, you walk away with everything — codebase, configurations, documentation, the lot. No hostage retainers. No data lock-in.

NOTE 06 — ON FAILURE

Q. What if it doesn’t work?

Then you invoke the clause we put in every contract: if leads captured and jobs booked don’t move, we rework the build at our expense or refund the retainer — your pick. We can offer that because we don’t take every client: if your business is brand-new, wants a 14-day SEO miracle, or just wants the cheapest bid, we’ll tell you on the first call and point you somewhere useful. (The full bad-fit list is published under Why Us. We’ve turned down good money over every line on it.)
